Game preservation promise
Last updated 2026-10-10
Games disappear from stores all the time. This page says what Ludomint does so that yours do not, and where the limits of that are.
If you bought a game
- It stays yours. A game you bought stays in your library, and you can play and download it, when its price changes, when it is no longer sold, and when its creator makes it private.
- A creator cannot delete it. A game that people have bought cannot be deleted by its creator, and a creator whose games have been bought cannot delete their account without talking to us first.
- You keep what you downloaded. Files you downloaded are yours to keep and run on your own computers. The desktop app checks that you own a game when it starts it; that check needs a connection only once every few days.
- Your saves are yours. The saved files on your computers stay there whatever happens. Cloud saves of the games in your library can be fetched through the desktop app, and you can delete them under Settings.
When a game has to go
Sometimes we must remove a game: it harms the people who run it, it breaks the law, or a court or a valid copyright complaint requires it. Then it can no longer be played or downloaded here, also by people who bought it.
- We tell everyone who bought it, with the reason, as far as we are allowed to say.
- Write to us through the support form and a person will look at a refund, also when the usual time for refunds has passed.
Free games
A creator can remove their own free game at any time. Copies you already downloaded keep working.
Versions
We keep the version of each game that is live, and the versions its creator marked as a demo or put on a test branch. Older versions are removed to save space, so we do not promise that a game can be played as it was in the past.
If Ludomint closes
We do not plan to. If it ever happens:
- We will say so on the site and by email at least 90 days before.
- For those 90 days everything you bought stays downloadable, and so do your cloud saves and the copy of your data.
- Before the end we will release a last version of the desktop app that starts your installed games without asking the site.
- Creators keep every right to their games and can publish them anywhere else. Money that creators have earned is paid out, also below the usual minimum.
For creators
Your game is yours, and so is every right to it. You can take a free game down at any time, publish it anywhere else, and leave. What you cannot do is take away a game from people who paid for it here.
What this is
This is a promise about how we run the site, and it is part of our terms with you. It cannot overrule a law or a court order.
