Selling your game

Prices, sales, coupons, what you keep and how you are paid.

Where selling is open, each game has a Pricing tab.

Setting a price

  • Free: anyone can play.
  • A fixed price: from $2. Only people who bought the game can play and download it.
  • Pay what you want: the buyer chooses, at or above your minimum. A minimum of zero keeps the game free and adds a Support this game button for tips.

Discounts and extras

  • Sale: a percentage off for a number of days. Everyone who wishlisted the game is told. A game can start three sales a week.
  • Coupons: codes for a discount. A 100% coupon is a free key for press and content creators.
  • Regional prices: lower prices for regions where the same amount is a much larger share of income. Suggestions are filled in; change any of them.
  • Rewards: buyers may pay more than the price. You can attach a thank-you, a code or a link to an amount; only people who paid at least that see it.

Ads on free games

On the Pricing tab of a free game you can switch on advertising: one labelled advertisement on the game's page, below the game. A game that uses the developer kit can also ask for one more during a pause. You will not see the ad on your own game; open the page signed out to check it. You receive 70% of what the ads earn, shared among creators by how often the ad on each game was seen that month, and paid with your payouts. Ads are not personalised. A game you mark as made for children under 13, under Game details, never shows ads. Visitors are asked before any ad is loaded. Where the site has not opened ads yet, the switch is saved and nothing is shown.

What you keep

The payment provider's fee (about 5% plus 50 cents) comes out of each sale first. On your first $1,000 of sales each year the platform takes nothing; after that it takes 10% of the price. The Pricing tab shows the result for your price.

Getting paid

Open Earnings from My games. Add where your money should go (PayPal, Wise or bank). Each sale is held for 14 days, then paid once a month when your balance has reached $20. Refunds are taken off your balance.

Things to know

  • A game that people have bought cannot be deleted. Contact support to retire one.
  • Partner codes: a content creator who sends you buyers earns 5% of those sales, paid by the platform, not by you.
